The One About Cayleb's Kindred Senior Dog Rescue
Listen in as host, Lindsay Eland and Cayleb's Kindred founder, Sophiane talk about how she began her rescue at 14 (yes, 14 years old!) the old curmugeons that steal her heart, and the evolution of her rescue into a fospice organization! It has all the heart, inspiration and stories that Just Add Dogs strives to give each week.
CKSDR is a small, volunteer-operated rescue located in central Colorado. With the help of dedicated foster homes, they work hard to ensure that all of Colorado's euthanasia-listed senior dogs find loving homes.
Since their founding, they have rescued over 100 euthanasia-listed senior dogs (and a few cats!) from Colorado shelters. When they first began, they were accepting adoptable and
hospice dogs. However, over the years there has been a welcome change. Shelters, rescues, and families looking to adopt have begun to realize how amazing senior animals are. More and more adoptable seniors have been going directly to homes rather than needing our intervention.
Their program now runs as a fospice. Shelters contact them when they have a senior that has either a terminal illness or a condition that requires specialized care that most people are unable to accommodate. They then match them with one of their foster homes, who acts as their forever family while we provide all supplies, veterinary care, and any other support that's needed.
Make sure to follow and support them on Instagram and Facebook at @caylebskindred and visit their website to donate, and support and to meet all of the senior sweeties at www.cksdr.org .
And actually, their program Adopt A Senior Sweetie is what we’re highlighting this week! Not everyone can adopt or can commit to adopting a dog right now, even if they LOVE dogs. But you can “adopt” your own senior sweetie and receive a little note, maybe even Facetime with your sweetie all while sponsoring their care! Become a sponsor by going to their website www.cksdr.org and click on the donate button!
